KiVa is an innovative, award-winning and evidence-based antibullying program, built on cutting-edge research on bullying and its mechanisms. KiVa has been developed at the University of Turku, with funding from the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland. It is a sought-after program and is implemented world-wide from Finland to New Zealand and from Argentina to the UK.

In this workshop you will learn about the phenomenon of bullying. What is meant by bullying and how does it manifest in schools? What is the architercture of bullying and how can we tackle bullying from a group perspective?

We will look at the histroy of the KiVa program; what was the bullying situation in Finland at the time of the development of the program and what is it now, 10 years after the nationwide launch?

In the workshop we will go through the goals of the KiVa program, how does KiVa intervene in bullying and victimization and what kind of materials are used in the KiVa program. We will also do a couple of simple excercises, which are a part of the KiVa lessons delivered in the schools.

Additionally, we will have a look at the effectivess of the program in Finland and elsewhere.
